ABOUT "Radar Family Farms"
A Huge Corn Maze GET LOST Rader Family Farms is proud to partner again with Asgrow and DEKALB Seed Corn in 2013 as they celebrate their 101st year in the corn business. This year's America's Farmers campaign celebrates U.S. farmers and highlights the importance of modern American agriculture. What do America's Farmers grow? Be sure to take a look at our videos to see. We planted our DEKALB Seed Corn earlier this summer and we've got the maze carved out of the corn and now we'll let the remainder of the corn grow to maturity. Below is a computerized rendition of this year's maze. Almost 11 acres of corn to get lost in, but don't worry, we take down your name and notify the authorities if you're not out by closing time :) You spoke and we listened. We've lowered the price of the "Maze Pass" to only $6.00 per person to make it more affordable for all our guests. However, if you want the Best Deal, you can purchase the Activity & Maze Combo which includes all agritainment activities plus the maze for $10 on weekdays and $12 on weekends. Pumpkins Galore Pumpkin picking at Rader Family Farms has become a long standing tradition for many families and friends. We look forward to seeing you again and are excited to welcome our first time visitors as well to the joy of selecting that perfect pumpkin! Pick-your-own pumpkins is available everyday of the season. We encourage you to grab a wagon near the entrance and take a leisurely stroll to the field to select that perfect pumpkin for carving or decorating. (Admission prices may apply for access to field) We'll tell you now and we'll probably tell you again while you're here, but we recommend you only cut the stem of the pumpkin you want and then remember do not pick it up by the stem. Instead, get your hands underneath the pumpkin and pick it up from the bottom. It will help protect the stem and extend the life of the pumpkin. We love stems! Of course we also have thousands of pumpkins, gourds, and squash already picked and just waiting for you to chose them. Activities for All Ages Agritainment at its Best The number and variety of activities has increased again this year at Rader Family Farms. It's been exciting and sometimes exhausting work but we hope you will enjoy the changes we've made to add to our guest's enjoyment. Your paid admission grants you access to every activity we have available with the exception of the big corn maze & face painting. You can see a detailed listing of activities below. Duck Races, Spider Web & Rat Rollers We've added a trio of new activities this year. Whether you want to race ducks against your friends, roll yourself down a track in an oversized tube or crawl like a spider around a cargo net suspended between poles. U Pick Pumpkins Journey out into the six acres of U-Pick pumpkins to find the perfect one for you! Tire Tower Reaching up into the stratosphere, the Tire Tower is great for testing your outdoor climbing skills. The Schoolhouse The Schoolhouse is the first stop on our field trips during the week. On weekends guests can visit it and learn about agriculture in Illinois. The Crop Circle When you stroll thru the pie shaped display you will be able to see up close eight different Illinois crops. You will be able to learn some interesting facts about each crop. This display is adorned by the Illinois Flag. The Little Village Kids six and under will enjoy playing in and around the miniature town. Shop for Illinois grown products in the market and drop your mail off at the Post Office. Then hurry home to fix your meal back at the playhouses. Just for the Little People! Tram Rides on Weekends Enjoy the ride out to get your pumpkin or just ride around for fun on the back of a tram pulled by a John Deere tractor driven by one of our staff. You will learn about this working farm and about the family who work it. Kiddie Corn Maze The 1 acre corn maze is just perfect for children and the faint of heart who do not want to wander for too long thru the paths. Located on the north end of the farm near the tram station, the Kiddie Corn Maze should take about 10-15 minutes to complete. Mountain Slide The tallest mountain in McLean County! Climb the steep mountain to the top of the big slide and slide down, down the mountain. Then climb back up again. Sandbox Dig and dig the biggest hole in the big sandbox with the cool diggers. Pedal Powered Go Carts & Trikes Test your driving skills with the go carts as you pedal around the track. Cattle Chute & Haystack Run up the cattle shoot and jump into the big haystack. That’s good old fashioned fun! Big Wheels Crossing Try your skills at climbing high on the big spools wheels and then down again. Rodeo Round-Up Get in the saddle and try your skill at roping the steer. How fun to be a cowboy or cowgirl. Wild Horses Swing high while riding the new horse swings (see weight limit posted) Jumping Pillow Our bright colored jumping pillow will be enjoyed by kids of all ages. Come try it out. Straw Castle Large straw bales create a castle tower that is lots of fun to climb and explore. Corny Bins Nothing says central Illinois like a large bin of corn for kids to root around in other than two bins of corn and that's what we have. Come have some fun and learn some fun corn facts on the inside of the bins. The Barnyard The Barnyard has received some new goats again this fall. Watch the bunnies in their Bunny Village. In the barn you can see a momma pig and babies and some sheep. In the poultry pen you can find turkeys as well as some pretty chickens and a beautiful rooster. The goats love climbing their bridge to get to the round feeding pen where you can feed them pellets for only a quarter. The Barnyard is full and running over with fun, playful animals for you to enjoy. Tractor Test Drive Climb up in the big red tractor and pretend you're the farmer planting the crops. Caterpillar & Ladybug Barrel Rides for Kids Let the children ride around the farm on the caterpillar or ladybug barrel ride while you enjoy a coffee or cider. Picture Perfect Spot Climb up in our 1951 Chevy pick-up truck for a great photo of the kids or the entire family. Capture that trip to the farm with a photo so you can remember the great time you had harvesting memories just on the edge of Normal.
