ABOUT "Brown's Harvest"
Six generations of the Brown family have been living and working in the town of Windsor, Connecticut since the mid 1800's. The Brown family is proud to say they have been a part of the history of Windsor, Connecticut since the mid 1800's (if not earlier!). During this time, over six generations of the Brown family have been living and working in the town. Over the years, the Brown family has grown potatoes, asparagus, and strawberries. Today, they now concentrate on growing Connecticut Valley shade leaf tobacco, pumpkins, and mums on over 175 acres. The family also owned and operated Brown's Driving Range up until 2012. The driving range was a great place for golfers (amateurs and professionals) to practice their swing on natural grass tees. Please browse our site to learn more about the Brown family and what we offer. Don't forget to register for special offers during the season. We'd like to remind you of our farm's Pumpkin/Hayride Program planned especially for children ages 3-7. We can accommodate any size group over the minimum of 15. We have covers for our wagons in case of rain. Print Pricing (Children's Mini-Corn Maze & Spookley 5 Acre Corn Maze) Children's Mini-Corn Maze and Spookley 5-Acre Corn Maze price information. Print Reservation Please fill out the Group Hayride Reservation Form to reserve a spot. Print Group Package Rate We schedule private groups of 15 or more each week-day during October for a 45 minute to 1 hour tour of our farm that includes: A tractor-drawn-hay-wagon ride around the farm, including fields of pumpkins and gourds. The ride will also pass through our "Spook-Barn" (only slightly spooky!). A small sugar pumpkin chosen by each child. These are just the right size for this age group and are perfect for painting, carving or cooking. Special Note: For the children's safety we pre-pick the sugar pumpkins and have a designated area for them to choose from after their hayride. This protects the children from tripping over vines, navigating through the fields (which can be difficult for young children, and dropping their pumpkins while embarking and disembarking from the wagon. Our homemade mini cider donut and cup of cider. An activity/coloring booklet for each child to take home, reinforcing things seen and done on the farm. Also, available for use by teachers are storyboards illustrating how pumpkins grow from seed to fruit. We will again feature Spookley the Square Pumpkin! This is a great lesson on how diverse and special we all are! The storybook, or DVD, with lesson plans are available for an additional fee and may be obtained prior to your visit to the farm. Spookley the Square Pumpkin now offers a free Bully Prevention Tool Kit. A children's mini-cornstalk maze for the children to go through and explore. If you feel your children could benefit from an on-farm experience such as this, please call us to reserve a time.
